2024 on a High

2nd January 2025

2024 was a tough year for small businesses and non-essential activities, but we still had plenty of 'high' moments to reflect upon! Here are a few of our favourites...

iFLY Downunder turned 10
What was once the dream of two ex-SAS soldiers became a reality after the Australian Skydiving community backed their plan and raised enough money to commence the build. 10 years later, we've flown thousands of happy customers! We've seen marriage proposals, made a World Champion and flown people from 3 to 101 years old! We've celebrated many birthdays with you and made a lot of Christmas wishes come true! Here's to the next 10!

Free Flights for Mums
We disagreed that Mum was always the one to bring the kids to iFLY, hold the bags and shoes, take the photos and be the cheer squad without actually flying, so we decided to change this! We gave away 30 free slots to Mums for Mother's Day and this time it was the kids turn to cheer mum along!

Found new Junior Ambassadors
We discovered Evie in the Gold Coast and the Aussie Skate Bros, Lucas and Leo in Sydney after hosting a competition to find a Junior Ambassador. All have been flying lots and documenting their flying journey! Lucas and Leo even got slot on Channel 7's 'Sunrise' show, with the live weather crosses coming from iFLY Downunder.

Trained 3 new instructors
We welcomed Pam, Harry and Arron to the iFLY Family. Pam is iFLY Gold Coast's first home-trained female instructor.

In the Sky
We love sports flyers and skydivers and sponsored 11 skydiving events in 2024 by sending our coaches to coach and organise at these events. We also hosted the 3rd Xtend Skydiving Skills Camp at Elderslie with our iFLY Coaches running hard!

Skydiver Events
Back at the tunnel, iFLY Downunder hosted 2 Body Piloting Championships, organised by Mason of Downunder Dynamics. This new event sees one-vs-one, follower-the-leader style battles and makes a great watch! We were part of a national 4-way FS scrambles in February and iFLY Gold Coast hosted its own VFS scrambles in July, proving we really do have an awesome community of flyers up here! We hosted more competitions across October and November with the help of Andrew Barker and Melissa Harvie rounding up 9 Formation Skydiving Teams to battle it out. Instructor James and Mick took out the 2-way VFS competition and Annabella took gold in the Freestyle, judged by Doni.

Talking of Doni
Our very own instructor Doni went to Macau to compete in the World Cup of Indoor Skydiving in the Freestyle category. We are very proud of Doni and can't wait to see what 2025 brings!

Flyer of the Year
This has to go to Jimmy Carlson rocking up 3,279 minutes of flying time, that's over 54 hours! That is a remarkable achievement and some mad skills to go with it!

Pink up Penrith
We auctioned off a Private Group package for the McGrath Foundation and the Nepean Hospital for Breast Cancer awareness month, with the winning bidder donating $850 to the cause.

All Abilities
We welcomed back Ambassadors Greg and Bek in Sydney and saw our 'All Abilities' events take off - literally! We had to put on a second session in Sydney as our first time slot was selling out. We continued our annual tradition of giving away 60 free slots to people living with disability for International Day of People with Disability in December.

Panthers Juniors
We got out of the wind and onto the pitch, sponsoring the Panther's Junior Football season. We loved connecting with the active youngsters and will be coming back for 2025.

Celebrating 102!
Who could forget Mona, coming to iFLY Downunder to celebrate her 102nd Birthday! This was a truly special moment and a staff favourite for the year! Watch her soaring into 102 here!

We already have big plans for 2025, including hosting the 'Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships' again in August. Thank you to everyone who kept us flying in 2024 and we hope to see you again in 2025.
